According to the latest report of ministry of tourism Delhi January witnessed the maximum number of domestic tourist visitors. 1.) India Gate

India Gate, Rajpath, New Delhi View



India Gate formerly known as All India War Memorial is located astride the Rajpath. When visiting Delhi, India Gate is one of the most famous tourist spot and an excellent example of Indian Heritage. The gate, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens was formed to memorise the sacrifice of 70000 soldiers of the Indian British Army died in the 1st World War.

2.) Red Fort

A historic fort and a major attraction, located in Old Delhi ,it was the residence of The Mughal Empire. Its painting is designed by Ustad Ahmad Lahori.

3.) Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar, a kind of a minaret and one of the most visited tourist place is magnificent and one of the oldest structures existing till today. Recognised as a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE in 1993 in the 17th session, it is made up of iron not rusted till today. It is located near Mehrauli, New Delhi.

Lotus Temple, a famous worshipping site, popularly known as House Of Worship is a notable structure and is open to all irrespective of caste, religion etc.. Located in Shambhu Dayal Baby, Kalkaji, New Delhi it is prominently known for its flowerlike shape and unique architectural style. Composed of 27 marble petal shape, it is a place of worship and a popular tourist attraction.


5.) Humayun's Tomb

Located in Mathura Road, Nizamuddin East, it is a historical structure and the tomb of the Mughal Emperor, Humayun fatber of King Akbar. A major tourist attraction and the first garden tomb built in the Indian Subcontinent, it was designed by Mirak Murza Ghyas and his son Sayyid Muhammad. 

It was recognized as a world heritage site in 1993 in the 17the session by UNESCO.

6.)Rajpath


It is indeed a memorial of national importance and very special to Indians. Running from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to National stadium Delhi, via India Gate, Raisina hills and Vijay Chowk was formerly known as the KingsWay and is one of the most prominent roads in India.

Mughal Gardens, an excellent example of Mughal Architecture and Indian history is based on Persian style gardens with a Charbagh structure. 8.) ISKCON Temple, Delhi


Located at the Hare Krishna Hills, east of Kailash, it is a hindu temple and well known temple of Lord Krishna and Radha. Numerous visitors each year visit the temple and experience the magnificent architecture. Inaugurated in 1998 by our former prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it holds great significance and is well known all over India.

9.) Delhi zoo 



The Delhi Zoo, a home to more than 1300 animals and aims towards the goals of sustainable management, enriched quality of life for animals, conservation education. It is a tourist attraction and is well maintained with quality infrastructure and worth visiting. Full of different species of various kinds of animals, plants and birds people enjoy the company of animals there. Inside the zoo, people are no allowed o bring an kind of food item except drinking water. 


10.) Gurudwara Bangla Sahib



A prominent Sikh place of worship and well known for its association with the eighth Guru, Guru Har Krishan. The holy river known as Sarovar passes inside it. Located in the Connaught place, New Delhi, originally it was a bungalow owned by Raja Jai Singh. Later on it was resided by Guru har Krishan who helped people suffering during the smallpox epidemic. Great place to visit..

11.)Jama Masjid 


Masjid - i - Jehan - Numa, popular known as Jama Masjid of New Delhi is one of the most prominent mosques in India. Located in Shahjanabad ( now known as Old Delhi), it was built by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Haha, son Of King Jahangir. A site of political importance during British rule, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Delhi.

12.) Lodhi Garden


A city park in New Delhi, it is spread over 90 acres of land and comprises of Tomb pf Sikander Lodhi, Shisha Gumbad and others. It is the most preferred destination for morning walks for the locals.
Created by the Sayyid Dynasty, Delhi Sultanate, and the Lodge Dynasty, it is now protected by the Archaeological Survey Of India. An amazing place to visit. Surely visit if you're planning a trip to Delhi. 

13.) Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum


The Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum is an excellent place to visit to revisit the Indian History. It was the residence of the former prime minister Indira Gandhi. The museum preserves all her belongings, her diary, pictures, letters to children and even her blood stained saree, the one which she was wearing when she was assassinated. A great place to reconcile the history!


14. )Akshardham Temple


An abode of god, a Hindu house of worship, and committed place to devotion, harmony and peace, Akshardham Temple is located close to the border of Noida. Constructed by the BAPS, it holds the Guinness World Record of the most comprehensive Hindu Temple.  The mandir, the most attracted destination of the Akshardham Complex is abundant in flora fauna and carved with dieting, dancers etc. The complex is easily accessible by the Delhi metro. 

15.) National Rail Museum

Located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi the National Rail Museum illustrates the history of the Indian Railways. Extended over an area of 11acres it is open everyday except Mondays and National Holidays. Main features of the museum include an auditorium, VIP lounge, The Rails ( restaurant ) and a Souvenir  shop. An amazing and fantastic place to visit.

 16.) Jantar Mantar Observatory 

Located in New Delhi, the primary purpose of the observatory was to predict the movements of moon and sun. Built by Maharaj Jai Singh II of Jaipur, the distinct instruments of the observatory include Ram yantra, Samrat Yantra, Jai prakash Yantra and Misra yantra. 

17.)Hauz Khas Village

An urban settlement in South of Delhi, HKV is a primary hotspot for shopping, dining and a beautiful blend of the past and the present. The Hauz Khas Village famous for psrtying, bars restaurants is quite popular among the tourists. There is no entry fee for entering the hauz khas village. IIT and AIIMS institutes also lie in the vicinity.

18.) Purana Quila


Purana quila or the Old Fort or formerly known as Shergarh is located near Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. One of the oldest forts in India, it is quite popular among the tourists. A great historical significance, its foundation lies in the walls of Dippinah. Some of its physical features include Quila - i - Kunha Mosque, the Sher mandarin and various outlying monuments. 
Timings : 7:00a.m to 5:00pm

19.) Connaught Place 


One of the most prominent financial, commercial and business centres, it is officially known as the Rajiv Chowk and stands at the 9th position in the list of most expensive office locations. Usually it is abbreviated as CP, RC, it is a hub of shopping, and a popular tourist destination. It was built by Lutyens and is named after our former Prime Minister, Rain Gandhi. 8 separate roads lead out from the connaught place. 

Main tourist attractions include Madame Tussauds, The Imperial, Agrasen ki Bauli etc.

20.) Safdarjung Tomb, New Delhi


A sandstone and marble mausoleum, the tomb of Safdarjung is a monument located near the Safdarjung Airport at T junction of Lodhi Road, New Delhi. It's the last monumental tomb garden of the mughals. Embedded with four key features, the Char Back Plan, , ninefold floor plan ,mausoleum at centre and podium with a staircase, it is a must visit tourist destination.
